Helge Zeiler: Founder and President, Primordial Genetics Inc.
Helge is a biotechnology professional and entrepreneur with >20 years of industry experience in technology development, R&D project leadership and IP development/management in early-stage biotechnology companies. He has a passion for early-stage genetic technologies, and has helped launch the operations of multiple biotechnology startups. Helge founded Primordial Genetics in 2011 with the goal of developing a novel whole-genome genetic technology for improving the performance of microbes and enzymes. The company launched its laboratory operations in 2013 and since then has steadily developed a platform of genetic technologies and products. Although he had participated in early-stage startups prior to Primordial, this was his first time founding a company.
Entrepreneurship can be a difficult and uncertain road, but is also highly rewarding and the only option for those who prefer to forge their own paths rather than following in the footsteps of others. While there is a strong individualist element – you create and shape your own dreams – much of it is about building an effective team, incentivizing and empowering others and making room for key team members to grow and adopt a challenge as their own. We are fortunate to live in a culture and economy in which entrepreneurism is not just possible but encouraged, supported and celebrated when it succeeds.
