SDEE Launches New Advocacy Committee
By Jared C. Hooks, PhD, Science Communicator
New for 2018, SDEE launched a new committee focused on advocacy for our members. Lifted heavily from our charter, the goals of this committee are to stay informed, educate, and advocate for both ourselves and SDEE on:
- Government funding to support entrepreneurs
- Community and social responsibility
- Federal, state, and local measures affecting entrepreneurship
As SDEE grows, we think it will benefit our members and the general community to start focusing on issues that can get left behind or feel too big for a burgeoning entrepreneur to approach alone. In the near future, we hope to publish articles and set up workshops on a range of topics from the more locally focused community choice energy and diversity in tech/biotech to broader issues like the recently passed tax bill and what it means for entrepreneurs.
If you’re interested in getting involved or have any suggestions for topics you’d like to hear more about, you can reach out to me at [email protected]. We hope to provide some good content, food for thought, and items you can act on.
